TIM BECKETT

Tim has over 37 years experience in fire service management and frontline operations. Tim began and finished his active fire service career in Ontario starting as a volunteer firefighter with the then Town of Markham and worked through the ranks including Deputy Chief in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Fire Chief in Kitchener and finally retiring as Fire Chief/Director of Emergency Management in 2021 with the City of Mississauga.
Following his retirement, he took on a position with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal assuming the role as the Deputy Fire Marshal overseeing the restructuring of the Fire Investigation Services, the creation of a new Quality Assurance and Risk Management section, day to day operations of Field and Advisory services, which including the enhancement of the Northern Fire Protection Program. Tim also provided crucial oversight of Technical Services, contributing to the development of new 2024 Fire Code Amendments.
Tim has gained extensive experience and skills working in several various sizes and types of fire departments. His 23 years in Fire leadership and management has allowed Tim to focus on risk analysis and mitigation efforts combining all areas of the fire service. Innovation and refocusing on education and enforcement has led to ensuring citizens are safe. Always understanding the delicate balance of public safety combined with fiscal responsibility has been first and foremost.
Tim has also done many peer reviews through the Commission Fire Accreditation International including Red Deer AB, Ottawa ON, Miami Beach FL, Lenexa KS, West Allis WI, Vista CA.
